River Cohen Giving is offering a $1000 scholarship to eligible students. Eligibility requirements are as follows:
  • High school students graduating this calendar year who have been accepted into an accredited college, university, trade school, or design school
  • Students currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, trade school, or design school.
To apply submit a short essay that answers the question, "How can philanthropy change the world?" The deadline for submission is Nov. 30, 2017. For details on essay submission, visit http://rivercohengiving.com. If a junior does not have the required ACT scores to take dual enrollment courses for the 2017-18 school year, they may take an Accuplacer Test at McNeese to qualify for dual enrollment courses. They may register at www.mcneese.edu/testing or call 562-4311.

Seniors must turn in to Mrs Mallett a copy of any scholarship award that they received. She must have a copy to add it to the graduation program .

Tuesday, May 2 at Noon is the last day an Early Admission Dual Enrollment student may drop a McNeese class.

All Graduating seniors will be honored at a church service on Saturday, May 6th at 4:00 pm at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Welsh.
Graduates are to meet by 3:45 p.m. under the covered walkway between the church and the rectory to line up. The class will walk in together. Wear your cap and gown. Also wear your Beta stole. Valedictorian(s) and salutatorian(s) should wear their hoods and medallions. Boys wear white shirt and tie just as for graduation. Tassels go on the right side.

LSU Eunice will be open during the Easter Holiday week (April 17th-21st). They are encouraging all interested juniors and seniors to schedule a campus tour on the Friday, April 21st. Please visit their campus tours page at www.lsue.edu/tours to schedule a visit. If that date is inconvenient, simply give them a call at 250-1526 or 692-3461 to schedule an appointment with our admission counselors. 

Seniors interested in the field of agriculture, natural resources or environmental sciences, may apply for the LOUISIANA ASSOCIATION OF CONSERVATION DISTRICTS SCHOLARSHIP. The application may be obtained from Mrs. Mallett. The completed application must be returned to the Jefferson Davis Soil and Water Conservation District at 2003 Port Drive, in Jennings by the 14th of April.

Any student planning to attend summer school in Lake Charles may obtain an application from Mrs. Mallett. Class sizes are limited. Students are encouraged to apply early.

Seniors who have a guardian who is a member of the Jeff Davis Parish Cattlemen's Association may apply for a scholarship. See Mrs. Mallett for an application. The deadline is May 1st.

Any senior majoring in a medical related field may apply for the Jennings American Legion Hospital Scholarship. Applications may be obtained from Mrs. Mallett. The deadline to turn in completed applications to the chairman of the scholarship is April 17th.
